A Little Background
Bundesrepublik Deutschland (Federal Republic of Germany) is most commonly called Germany. It is a member of the European Economic Community.
In 1990, East (formerly Communist) and West Germany were unified to become the Germany we know today. Berlin is the capital city.
Germany is a federal republic. The Head of State is President Horst Koehler. The Head of the Government is Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder.
