Entertainment in Epcot's Japan changes regularly. Miyuki, the Candy Artist is often there but other exhibits/performers are scheduled when she is away.
Miyuki
Miyuki is a traditional Japanese candy artist - with a difference! She sculpts fanciful dragons, animals and delicate flowers from rice ‘taffy’ in the traditional manner. What’s not traditional is the fact that she’s a woman.
In a culture that passes handcrafts from father to son, Miyuki is unusual. Her grandfather, a famous Japanese candy maker, taught her the craft. She’s the first and only Japanese woman to practice this trade. (Very Mulan-ish, I think!)
The Bijutsu-kan Gallery
displays exhibits that celebrate traditional and modern Japanese art forms. The current exhibit is "The Kitahara Collection of Tin-Toys."
Matsuriza
It is said that "Taiko shows the spirit of the Japanese people and reflects the essence of their soul." If you’re lucky enough to catch this performance, you’ll understand why.
Taiko is Japanese drumming but it’s more than that too. This powerful performance emphasizes unison, harmony, and physical strength.
