UPDATE 2008: You can no longer purchase tiles to add to the sculpture. There is still a locator booth near the site where you can locate tiles that are already in place. As you walk into Epcot, you’ll notice the stone walls with rows and rows of small plaques on them. Here you were invited to create your own ‘souvenir’ photo to be added to the wall (at a cost of course!)
This ‘sculpture’ has 35 granite pillars and space for ¾ of a million 1-inch square tiles. There were 5 photo capture booths in the area and the cost was $35.00 for a single-person image or $38.00 for 2 people in the same image. (Because they are so small, two was the maximum number of people per image.) Here’s how it worked:
You entered a photo booth and had your picture taken. It was etched onto a tile, and added to the walls within a couple of days. A souvenir certificate that pinpointed the location was also mailed to each guest, so they could find their tile on their next visit to Epcot. Also in EPCOT's Future World:
