The Magic of Disney Animation
For years we avoided this attraction because we thought it was another “walk-through” and the kids wanted more excitement. Don’t make the same mistake. This is a great attraction that has something for everyone.
It starts with an interactive show hosted by a Disney animator. S/he is seated onstage and interacts with various people and characters on the screens behind him. Mushu (Mulan’s wacky guardian-dragon) steals the show in a very amusing exploration of how characters are created.
When the show ends, the audience moves into a large hall that’s full of interactive games that feature aspects of animation. Kids (or adults) can “paint” animation cells, “voice” cartoons or find out which character they most resemble. The Animation Studios At the back of this area, you'll find the entrance to the Animation Studios. Get in line because - when the doors open - the studio will fill up fast. Inside - you get your own desk, which is already laid out with pencil and paper. A Disney animator sits at the front of the room and walks you step-by-step through how to create Stitch (from Lilo and Stitch.) At the end, you sign your masterpiece and it’s yours to take home with you – as a very personal souvenir!
Then you exit through a gift shop that sells specialty items like original animation cells and how-to-draw Disney characters books. It’s really worth a look.
