The Haunted Mansion

Everyone loves the Haunted Mansion! This amusement inspired the movie of the same name, and although it sounds spooky – it’s just loads of fun.

You’ll be escorted into the library by a grim-faced butler or maid. Watch the pictures hanging on the wall above you. Try to stand near the lady with the umbrella because the door will open below her.

Then you'll board a “Doom Buggy” and ride through the mansion to see and hear the various ghosts who live there. The ballroom with waltzing spirits is amazing. (TIP: Watch the duelers in the photos on the wall.)

TIP: Take a look at your reflection in the mirror at the end to see which hitchhiker joined your party. Sorry – you can’t take him home.

Tip: Check out the graveyard on the left as you wait in line. The tombstones are hilarious.

The Legend of Master Gracey

If you get the chance, ask a Cast Member about the legend of Master Gracey. They tell it so-o-o-o well  - but here's the gist:

Master Gracey was the Master of the mansion. His first wife was a tight-rope walker. She came to a tragic end when she slipped while walking over a pit of alligators.

He was distraught (of course) but did remarry. His second bride was young and very close to her family. She couldn't bear to be separated from them and committed suicide on her wedding night.

The Master could take no more and put an end to it all by hanging himself in the library (though how he got up to the ceiling to do the deed is quite a mystery!)

It is a tragic tale and it explains some of the things you'll see as you tour the manse.
