Epcot's USA:
Architecture and Landscaping

Disney plays a lot of tricks with architectural perspective to make buildings looks larger or smaller. The colonial mansion at the American Adventure is one of the best.

The problem: In colonial times, buildings did not exceed two stories in height. However, the entertainment in the building required a high ceiling for the theater and additional space for storage of the animatronic characters after their ‘performances.’

Solution: This building is actually five stories high. Disney used forced perspective to make it appear two stories high.

The mansion was built in grand style, reminiscent of Independence Hall, Boston’s Old State House and Colonial Williamsburg. More than 100,000 hand-tooled Georgia red-clay bricks were painstakingly dyed to resemble buildings of that period.

The grand hall is decorated with names and quotations of famous Americans.

Gardens:
At one time, this pavilion had a special rose garden. Today, the gardens change from season to season.
